PhotoNewForest photography competition at Mottisfont Abbey
07/11/08
Professional New Forest Photographers Ian Badley and Barry Whitcher have been running a series of PhotoTreks at the beautiful Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey this year. PhotoTreks are structured Photographic Workshops designed for beginners and intermediates which in addition to Mottisfont Abbey are run at other venues in Hampshire and in the New Forest National Park
Guests attending the events held at the National Trust property throughout the year have submitted entries to a competition, the prize giving having taken place at noon on Sunday 26th October 08.
Prizes included a Canon EOS 1000D SLR camera kit, a Canon IXUS 90IS, a Lowepro Fastpack camera rucksack, entry to a Charles Dickens Sketch at Mottisfont Abbey and PhotoNewForest PhotoTrek vouchers. All participants were invited to attend making this a perfect occasion to catch up and revue the work on display. Canon Pro Imaging Account Manager, David Fidler presented the prizes.
There were nearly 500 entries to the competition from the five events run with at the Mottisfont Estate this year. Exclusive use is provided for part of the days which provided excellent opportunities for those attending to capture images and to learn how to improve their photography.
The winning entry was ‘Autumn Test’ submitted by Roger McCallum. Ian Badley who judged the entries said, “Roger’s image captures the beauty of Mottisfont, demonstrated competent camera use and an original view. The composition, which is one of the main topics we cover on the Phototreks, makes the image work so well by portraying the river and atmosphere remarkably”.
