www.PhotoNewForest.com Summer UpdatePlease
Hi everyone,
PhotoTreks this year have been going extremely well and we thought we’d update you on what’s been happening and what is being planned.
PhotoTreks
We have added new venues at Burley: which includes at least 3 forest ponds as well as moor and enclosure and Longslade: where the emphasis is on the horseshoe shape, its grass plain and heather. There are two additional venues also being planned at Lepe and Wootton, more of that later.
The merits of our original Phototrek venues of Bolderwood/Fritham and Rhinefield still stand up for themselves very well with the all day Phototreks at Bolderwood/Fritham being very well received and enjoyed. For those with less time, an evening at Rhinefield, which we are running most Thursday evenings during July and August fit the bill.
Now Keyhaven. We have thought of changing our name to PhotoKeyhaven such is the popularity of this venue. Be it early morning, (and I mean early, 4.15 am for my workshops), morning, day or evening, this venue fills up, to the extent that we have put in extra dates which have also then filled! However, we don’t wish to over kill, so we haven’t listed any more dates at present but if you’re interested in attending one here, then please do let me know and we’ll keep you posted.

Chewton Glen Hotel and Mottisfont Abbey
As many of you know, we run our PhotoTrek style events for Chewton Glen Hotel, voted best UK hotel 2008, and the National Trust Property of Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey. Both of these have been extremely popular, with the Introduction to Phototrek at the Chewton Glen and all the Mottisfont events being full. We are very pleased and look forward to running more of these events next year.
What we’ve been up to
This is our second year of Phototrek so we have been busy marketing and honing our events. In addition we still do our own activities.
Barry Whitcher
Barry has been busy, especially this month, with wedding photography and preparations for the New Forest Show which he is covering for the organisers, as well as setting up for a stand at Cowdray Park International Polo event next weekend. He has also been shooting snails at a snail farm!
Ian Badley
I have just returned from shooting in the Corbieres and Provence regions of France for the libraries I supply, so now have the task of processing all the images -aargh! I have a couple of workshops coming up and will soon be adding autumn dates for Purbeck, Portland, the New Forest and more. These workshops are an extension to the Phototreks really, more location based and more in depth and technical. I have also been very lucky in reaching the final, out of over 32000 entries worldwide, in the Creative Visions of Nature category of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition run by the Natural History Museum and BBC, for which I was really pleased. No I didn’t win, but hey, the final top entries of 32000 worldwide…….!
Teaser - Exciting Developments
We can’t say too much at present, but are hopeful that we will be able to in the next week or so. We have been in discussions with a major worldwide brand who have indicated that they wish to be involved with us. If it comes to fruition, this will be excellent news for all those attending PhotoTreks. More later hopefully.
We have also been approached by a well known stately home and gardens to run events for them starting in October. Again, more of that later.
There, I said it was a tease.
Lowepro
Those of you that have attended PhotoTreks recently will have been handed the Lowepro cashback vouchers. Lowepro make the excellent hard wearing camera rucksacks and bags that both Barry and I use in there many guises. This is a reminder that the vouchers are valid until 31st of July. If you have lost or would like a voucher, let me know soon and I will send you one out. As you know, Lowepro have been supporting our activities and have recently announced many new bags which can be viewed on their website here.
Anyway, that’s enough for now. We hope to see you soon.
Kind regards
Ian Badley
